A Jamestown man awaiting sentencing on another charge was arrested on a drug offense and other counts Sunday after a traffic stop, Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reported.
Jarred T. Ristau, 25, was charged with tampering with physical evidence, a Class E felony; two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and single counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, all Class A misdemeanors; and traffic violations.
Garcia said Ristau was stopped near the Seneca One Stop gas station, 11150 Southwestern Blvd., on the Seneca Nation Cattaraugus Territory, and was found with suspected methamphetamine. He was taken into custody after a struggle with deputies, the sheriff noted.
During processing, officers found that Ristau is wanted on bench warrant from Crawford County, Pa., for failing to show up for a court appearance. They also learned that he was convicted of possessing child pornography in Chautauqua County and was free under supervision while awaiting sentencing.
