During his Monday videoconference, Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott said safety Micah Hyde (stinger) and defensive end A.J. Epenesa (rib) are “week to week” after being injured in the 20-17 victory against Kansas City, ruling them out of Sunday’s game against Dallas.
Sean McDermott did his homework over the bye week. The Buffalo Bills’ head coach needed to find an solution to a problem that, until Sunday, had eluded his defense: How to close out games.
Hyde was attended to by the Bills’ athletic training staff twice in a span of four plays late in the second quarter and did not return. Hyde sustained a stinger in the Week 9 loss at Cincinnati and missed the loss to Denver. Minus Hyde, the Bills turned to Taylor Rapp, who played 36 snaps against the Chiefs.
Epenesa, whose interception ended Kansas City’s first drive, played only four snaps. If the Bills sub defensive end for defensive end, Kingsley Jonathan would likely draw in.
McDermott said tight end Dalton Kincaid (shoulder) is day to day. Kincaid visited the Arrowhead Stadium X-ray room after the game.
