Voters in the Kendall Central School District in Orleans County approved a $12,680,000 capital improvement project by a wide margin in a referendum Tuesday that was held in Kendall Town Hall. The vote was 102-41, school officials reported.
The project will make improvements at all four of the district's buildings, with a special focus on the elementary school, where a new playground will be built, security will be improved, corridors and the auditorium will be renovated and new ceilings and lighting will be installed in the classrooms.
The project also will replace the roof on the buildings and grounds facility. Two previous capital projects were directed at the junior-senior high school.
District officials noted that the project will require no property tax increase. Funds will come from state aid and the district's capital reserve.
