Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott's apology for a remark he made during a training camp speech in 2019 has moved beyond the sports world.
McDermott cited the 9/11 terrorist attacks as an example of team building and communication, as first reported by Tyler Dunne of Go Long.
McDermott said Thursday that he had apologized for the analogy on the same day, but he held a team meeting Thursday after the remarks resurfaced.
The comment provided enough fodder for Colin Jost during the "Weekend Update" segment on "Saturday Night Live."

Jost then explained that McDermott had apologized and then hit his punch line ... "Kind of a full circle moment … Because when Osama bin Laden was giving the terrorists a pep talk, he told them not to be like the Bills."
